I've just heard that Jon Jacobs died on Sunday, 14th
November (as reported in
Gloria
Brame's weblog.) It's no secret that I had public
disagreements with Jacobs in his later years, and
misgivings about his mentorships, but I don't want to

Recently, there seems to have been a sudden outbreak of
discussion about
modern day members of the "Old Guard" or earnest claims
about Ancient
European Houses of D/s. Under closer inspection, the
claimants retreat into
quite innocuous statements, but it still makes you ask
why the extreme
claims in the first place, even if they're not defended

Bondage is a source of wonderful metaphors for D/s, and
the captivity aspect of bondage is D/s turned into a
physical barrier. Cages are probably the most commonly
used captivity tool in BDSM, and in a recent thread on
bondage.com, phylassia posted a little gem that I'd like
